Class Schedule: This is a 1.5 hour class held at least once a month.
Class Description: Learn how to use the 180 Studios Lasers, to cut or etch wood, plastics, papers or textiles. Gain a solid understanding of what the machine can do and learn how to upload a file, run a cut, and an engrave job. This class will cover the basics so that you will be able to operate either the BOSS (60watt) or GWEIKE (80watt) Laser equipment unsupervised and in a safe and courteous manner.
The first half of the class will cover some laser cutting basics, safety, and operational procedure. The second half is more hands-on in that you will be guided through cutting and engraving some fun shapes and designs out of wood to take home. Members who take this class will be certified to use both Lasers.
Prerequisites: Students must be 18+, or accompanied by an adult. While it’s not mandatory, we encourage students to have some experience with Vector design software (such as Illustrator, or Inkscape), but it is not necessary. You will learn the basics of our LightBurn software by the end of the session.
Materials: 3mm plywood included with class
Class Minimum: This class will not run with fewer than 3 students. If minimum is not reached, class will be rescheduled.
