Learn how to use our newest 3D printer the "Form 2" from our very own Ky Faubion. This 3D printer does not use standard filament but instead creates designs using a resin bath with laser light curing each layer producing ultra fine detail.
This class is for members that have already gone through the Fusion 360 class and have had some experience with 3D printing. Use of this machine will only be for members that have taken this class and can prove that they can safely use this tool. In this class we will learn how to properly set up an STL file in the software, prepare the tray for a print, load a file, level the printer, run a file and remove the print from the tray. After understanding how to run a print with a resin based material, the last portion will be seeing the print through its alcohol bath and curing it in ultra violet light for hardening.
Hailing from Southern Oregon, Ky moved to the Bay Area in 2007. Shortly after becoming a self employed dog walker and business owner in San Francisco, he found his first makerspace in 2011 while attending the Maker Faire. “Tech Shop” became his home for the next six years. After learning and teaching just about all the curriculum over that time due to missing instructors leaving the space, he became a true veteran by filling in for as many classes as he possibly could successfully training over 1,000 people of all ages and abilities. He then went onto other spaces to share his tribal knowledge at places like Tesla in Fremont and the PiShop program at Google HQ in Mountain View. He loves originality and spends a lot of his waking hours brainstorming about the next fun project; especially with his friends at 180 Studios.
