       About the Class: Students will learn the basics of working with the popular Arduino microcontroller board.  Students will learn to write code using the Arduino IDE, upload code to their devices, and get debugging information from the device as it runs. Students will also learn to wire other devices to the Arduino, including a light sensor, and LED and a 7-segment display. Students will also learn how to work with 3rd party libraries to make the development of projects easier. 
       Pre-requisites: Students do not need to know how to program or build circuits in advance. Students do not need to know how to solder in advance, those who are interested can come 30 mins before the class begins for a demonstration. 

About the Instructor:
         Kevin John is an Electronics Prototyping Engineer for a Silicon Valley tech company called Sensys Networks where Kevin builds microcontroller-based systems for testing and manufacturing. Before that Kevin worked at Sonoma State’s Education and Public Outreach group developing STEM education products using electronics in a classroom setting, as well as on high powered rockets. Kevin graduated from Sonoma State in 2007 with a degree in Physics.
