Fusion 360 is the premier CAD software for makers and developers in todays world
and Shopbot is nearly a household name in CNC technology. As noted on the
Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D CAD/CAM tool for product development that combines industrial mechanical design, collaboration, and machining in a single package. With Fusion 360 you can quickly iterate on design ideas with sculpting tools to explore form and modeling tools to create finishing features. Engineer your models to test fit and motion; create assemblies, photorealistic renderings, and animations. Fusion 360 also allows you to work in teams in a hybrid environment that harnesses the power of the cloud when necessary and uses local resources when it makes sense.
In this four session class we will introduce you to the basics of modeling in Fusion
360 as well as making 2-D and 2.5D cuts on our Shopbot. Content covered will
include the entire sketching tool menu, parameters, constraints and an intro to the
CAM module; as well as speeds and feeds, workflow, cutter selection, and work
holding. By the end of the fourth class each student will have a solid understanding
of a beginning toolset for Fusion 360 and will be prepared to work unsupervised and
with confidence on the Shopbot.
Note: This class will not cover 3-D milling or any of the Fusion 360 workspaces
outside of modeling and CAM.
