Welcome to the amazing world of metal machining! This three hour class will introduce you to the basic concepts of metal milling as well as some of the specifics of our Sharp, Kent, and Tree milling machines. Material covered will include material holding, tool changing, locating and general machine safety and operation. Students will work individually or in pairs to create a simple aluminum part that will require basic machine operations such as end milling and through drilling.
In addition to this three hour class Ken Rawson will hold a three hour open workshop for attendees to complete their parts and continue their work on the mill. Ideally after these six hours of work time students will be prepared to work unsupervised on the metal mills.
Please wear closed toe shoes and pants.
